Children will learn to read and recognise a broader range of CVC (Consonant-Vowel-Consonant) word patterns. This includes families like ‘-ag’, ‘-ip’, ‘-ug’ and ‘-op’. This extensive practice solidifies their blending skills.

We introduce a carefully selected list of common sight words that do not always follow phonetic rules but appear frequently in early reading materials. Mastering words like ‘on’, ‘and’, ‘the’, and ‘I am’ allows children to read more smoothly and focus on comprehension.

Students will learn to identify and blend common consonant combinations at the beginning and end of words. This includes digraphs like ‘ch’, and blends such as ‘sn’, ‘sm’ and ‘br’. They will also tackle ending blends/digraphs like ‘_th ‘_nk’ and ‘_ly’.
